This week I have undergone interviews with Andy Edwart and Ed Jones. The information at Andy provided has been used for verbatim and the the interview was recorded. Ed is my mentor for this project and has made a name for himself as a writer, I am having weekly zoom sessions with him to go over my work to see what works and what doesn't. I also have a interview with Eve Steele, the information she provides will also be used into a monologue. Because of health reasons and a busy schedule I will be meeting up with Eve at some point at the end of this week or beginning of next week.
Andy
I felt comfortable straight away when in discussion with Andy. He started off by talking about the issues he faced down London when we lived there such as money and working issues. We created a common ground together which helped with him feeling comfortable as possible to open up to me.
Ed
Ed provided me with a lot of information, sources and people for me to get in contract with which is really helpful. He has a lot of connections in the industry so he knew the right people who I should be in contact with. He also give me works to look into such as:
John Goobers "Bouncers"
John Mcgraths "A Good Night Out"
August Toal "Theatre of the Oppressed"
I am am planning to email Jenny Ryder who works at The Lowry, Ester Baker and Neil Gutchfield who work for singer and the company "Theatre in Prisons Network" I will source out more interviews that will be great to support my findings for my dissertation and my work.
Costume
I met up with Yvonne to talk about costumes. I have sorted almost everything I needed in regards to costume. The costumes that I have sorted is:
Andys costume: Shirt, tie and blazer (School Uniform)
Brooke Costume: Leotard and tights ( I already have these items so I will provide them myself)
Eve's Costume: Vintage shirt. Denim jeans and jacket (Which I will provide for) Scrunchie was not provided
However some props need altered such as a vintage beer bottle and a acceptance letter. They didn't have a scunchie which I needed for costume however the costume team are going to order it online. I have contacted Kev to sort all these items out. I have also confirmed the spaces of the performance. For Eves monologue I wanted a bar and one of the studios has a bar provided in it which I was able to book.
Rehearsal
My first rehearsal process took place this week in PA026 studio at Northumbria. The first half I focused on dance, workshopping I am hoping to do a dance sequence at the beginning of the short film to us as opening credits before the monologues are shown. (See vlogs for reference of the rehearsal process) Followed on by rehearsing Andy's monologue. I have the script all mapped out for both Andy's and Brooke monologue but decided to focus on Andy's first as it'll be the first one shown. I managed to learn the first paragraph of the four paragraphs within the monologue. As well as timing myself going through the full monologue to see how long it is. It is around 4 minutes long which is where I want the time I want the monologue to be around. However, because I was reading it word for word I believe it may be longer for the actual performance as i tend to speed up my speech when reading from something. This is something to note for future reference.
